The recent Africa Women Summit, held in Nairobi from May 8th to 10th, 2024, was a resounding success. Now in its fifth year, this vital platform brings together exceptional women from across Africa to advocate for equal opportunities and empower positive change. Oluoch Kimori Advocates played a key role in organizing and moderating discussions, with Lilian Oluoch-Kimori at the forefront.

The theme for this year’s summit, “Women’s Health: Empowering Voices, Inspiring Changes,” highlighted a crucial aspect of women’s empowerment.

The theme for this year’s summit, “Women’s Health: Empowering Voices, Inspiring Changes,” highlighted a crucial aspect of women’s empowerment. By fostering an environment where women can participate openly and influence policies, the summit aims to create lasting improvements in healthcare access and gender equity.

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the deserving winner, Topister Juma from Muhuri, who truly embodies the essence of a justice champion. In addition to the award nomination, I had the privilege of participating in a highly valuable course on design thinking and innovative leadership offered by Stellenbosch. This course equipped me with invaluable skills and strategies to approach problem-solving in a creative and user-centric manner. I gained the knowledge necessary to foster a culture of innovation and drive positive change within my firm.

The summit’s pan-African nature was another remarkable aspect. Women from diverse backgrounds and fields came together, united in their desire to create a more equitable future for all. The African Women Summit, South Africa – Cape Town Tour

I recently had the privilege of attending the African Women Summit in Cape Town, where exceptional women from across Africa converged to drive meaningful change for sustainable development. The experience was truly empowering as I had the opportunity to meet numerous trailblazers who have achieved remarkable milestones in their respective fields.

Express my special gratitude to the organizers of the African Women Summit and the esteemed faculty of Stellenbosch.

A notable highlight of the summit was the chance to connect with influential leaders, including Hon. Mariya Didi, the current Minister of Defence in Maldives, Hon. Judith Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Zimbabwe, Hon. Given Katutwa Mwelwa from Zambia, and Dr. Hoda Yassa, President of the Arab Women Investment Union. Witnessing their unwavering commitment and dedication to creating positive change was truly inspiring.

I am thrilled to share that I was nominated for the prestigious Justice Champion Award at the summit. Although I did not secure the award on this occasion, I take immense pride in the recognition received and being counted among the remarkable women who are making a tangible difference in their communities.

Throughout the summit, we engaged in insightful discussions on various critical topics, such as women and climate change, mentorship, breast cancer and cervical cancer screening and treatment in Africa, digital equity, democracy, peace and security, the role of African women in crisis resolution, women who dare to dream, empowering the next generation, and breaking barriers.

The combination of the dynamic environment at the summit, the knowledge acquired from the Stellenbosch course, and the recognition of my nomination has further ignited my passion for promoting justice and sustainable development.

I am sincerely grateful for the experience and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are equally dedicated to making a difference. I am now more determined than ever to continue advocating for justice and equality, leveraging the skills and connections I gained from the summit and the courses.

I would like to express my special gratitude to the organizers of the African Women Summit and the esteemed faculty of Stellenbosch for providing platforms that fostered learning, collaboration, and empowerment.
