Reflecting on the Women Empowerment Summit 2025: An Inspiring Gathering in Mombasa

What an incredible honor it was to stand before such a powerful gathering of women and allies at the Women Empowerment Summit 2025, held on 26th – 27th September 2025 at the beautiful Afraah Banquet Hall in Mombasa.

As the Guest Speaker, I had the privilege of engaging with brilliant minds, courageous leaders, and passionate change-makers who share a common vision: a world where women are fully empowered to lead, influence and create lasting impact.

My Journey, Our Collective Mission

Over the last 15 years in the legal profession, I have been privileged to serve in leadership, dispute resolution, and mentorship. Today, as the Managing Partner & Head of Dispute Resolution at Oluoch Kimori Advocates and the President of the Africa Women Summit – Kenya Chapter, I carry with me the stories of resilience, growth, and courage that women have shared along the way.

The summit reminded me that every recognition I have received — from being named among Kenya’s Top 100 Litigation Lawyers, honored with the Pwani Women Award for Women in Law, or listed among the Top 100 Reputable Women of African Descent — is not just about me. It is about us, the women who continue to break barriers, open doors, and hold them wide open for others to walk through.

Key Takeaways from the Summit

  • The Power of Mentorship – True leadership is not just about reaching the top; it is about lifting others as you climb.
  • Collaboration Over Competition – The summit demonstrated the beauty of women coming together to share knowledge, resources, and networks.
  • Action Through Empowerment – Conversations must translate into opportunities, policies, and practices that give women and youth a fair chance at success.

Gratitude & Looking Ahead

To every participant, sponsor, and supporter — thank you for making the Women Empowerment Summit 2025 a resounding success. Your presence, your voices, and your commitment filled the room with energy and possibility.

This is only the beginning. Together, we must continue to champion gender-responsive policies, expand access to justice for marginalized communities, and create spaces where women and youth can thrive without limitation.

I leave this summit more inspired than ever to keep pushing for change, and I invite you all to walk this journey with me.

Here’s to empowerment, leadership, and global impact.

With gratitude,
Lilian Oluoch-Wambi
